Sunbury firm celebrates 25th anniversary
SUNBURY, Pa. — This year PhaseOne Marketing & Design is celebrating their 25th year in business as a successful, family-owned advertising company. Over the years, PhaseOne has always been able to grow and adapt along with the changing needs of their clients.

PhaseOne was founded as a print broker firm in December 1983 by Larry Underkoffler, who had discovered and moved to fill the need for a local company that could handle print management and pre-press services.

PhaseOne quickly grew enough to support a graphic artist, Tom Forney, who is still with the company today as a color management and IT specialist. The business also expanded to incorporate film assembly and in-house color management services. With these services, PhaseOne began to attract a larger client base and soon they began to move into full-color, multi-page projects.

In 1989, PhaseOne introduced AdOne Advertising Specialties, a promotional products company specializing in personalized clothing for local and regional businesses.

Together, PhaseOne and AdOne, continued to stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. In doing so, PhaseOne was one of the first companies in the region to install digital pre-press equipment, which enabled them to do more work, more quickly. In the late 90s, AdOne purchased embroidery equipment and began offering custom in-house embroidery services for apparel and softgoods. Around the same time, PhaseOne purchased a large format printer to expand their printing services to include posters, P.O.P displays, and trade show graphics.

At the turn of the century, PhaseOne again branched out, this time into web development. More of their clients were looking to create professional web presences to keep up with the demands of their customers. The web department began designing basic sites and was soon expanding to include e-commerce and database driven applications.

PhaseOne now offers search engine marketing (SEM) in conjunction with web design. SEM clients see consistent rankings at the top of search engines, increased traffic and now receive in-depth web traffic reports.

Today, PhaseOne caters to the needs of regional, national and international clients. Many of who have been with them for over 20 years. The company does not require contracts with their customers. “We earn each project by the work we’ve done previously,” company President Greg Underkoffler explains. In keeping with family tradition, Greg took over the presidency from his father and company founder and president, Larry Underkoffler, in 2003. Greg had previously served as vice president for eight years.

PhaseOne and AdOne now have 25 employees and both companies are still growing. “We are always looking to the future,” says Mr. Underkoffler. “By staying up on industry changes, we continue to expand and adapt our services based on our customers’ needs.”

Together, under one umbrella, the companies offer print design, web development, tradeshow displays, marketing, photography, broadcast development, multimedia presentations, corporate stores, embroidery and promotional product services.

For the near future, PhaseOne plans to expand their sales staff and purchase new equipment for additional in-house capabilities.

To celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary, PhaseOne will be hosting an Open House for customers. The Open House will include vendor displays, door prizes, entertainment, food and beverages to thank customers for their loyalty and business over the years.
